Before I get into this post, I have absolutely no clue what is up with the Drought is Over mixtape. I do know, that KC put up the Full/NoDJ version of Drizzy’s reference track for Lil Wayne….

DRIZZZY
GO LAKERSSSSSSSSSSSSS
why do people like this guy? wait thats right only teens like him.
Josh East…take that lameness West homey. Drake is the most relevant rapper right now.
As a matter of fact, ARTIST.
Yeah whats East talking about…one of those Gucci fans I guess. Maybe fake ass, wanna be gangsta rappers like Ross lmao
am i the only one who gets crashed by that ushershare thing?
i fucks with drake, to bad he signed with that lame record label.. he’s never gonna get to drop an album
nah Truth, it works fine for me brah… either way mediafire>>>
Yes…Yes you are…
Mr 907, he hasn’t official inked a deal yet at all. Rumors are that he is in talks with Universal Motown.
I’m a big drake fan but this shit right here is wack. he is turning right into lil wayne. it’s a big mistake in my eyes
word? i swore he was with the young money camp..
I’m a big drake fan but this shit right here is wack. he is turning right into lil wayne. it’s a big mistake in my eyes
====================================================
that is a retarded thing to say since this is a reference track for Lil Wayne so OF COURSE HE WOULD SOUND LIKE HE IS TURNING INTO LIL WAYNE! Lil Wayne sucks donkey dick and always has, Drake is actually talented…
Yeah. Not to know Wayne…but c’mon…Drake is smart. He knows what he’s doing. Milking the cow with this affiliation and he’s holding out for a REAL deal, because he IS the forementioned.
@Young Son
actually… youre late. dudes signed.
Word? To Universal?
It kept jumping back and forth so I wasn’t sure yet.
@ Shake
Word? Who got the first round draft pick?
LOL…this is the first time Shake ever responded to me. I feel honored…lol
What is this bullshit?
his wordplay doesnt really impress me, he’s not too lyrical at all.. i dont like how he tries to act hard in some raps when its known he grew up in the toronto suburbs.. nevermind the fact he’s an actor… and he sings too much.. i havent even heard this track but he does sound like a mini wayne on a lot of others.. but hey, he’s doin his thing and people are feelin him so props to him.. he’s just not for me
How could any of you say he’s wak. You’re fucking haters. Tell me who your fav new artist and I’m sure Drake is easily better or their both equals. Stop fucking hating, stop fuckin hating! He’s a good artist if your fav artist isn’t poppin don’t worry his time will come too but don’t sit here and lie to your self saying he’s wak. Your fuckin deaf. I really want to know how you think he’s wak. He’s has good lyrics, not in the top elite but he’s lyrical, he can flow with almost any beat, he has good beat selection, good hooks. Stop fuckin hating haters. You probably think Gucci Mane is nice or Plies or some bum or average mc.
this is AWFUL.
BLACKOUT 2 JUST LEAKED. 999999999x better than any of drakes garbage.
Plus, if you paid attention to homey’s blog, he said it was just a reference track for Wayne that was supposed to be on the Drought 3.
You listen to “Room For Improvement”, “Comeback Season” and “So Far Gone” and think wak or average lmao… ok how bout this majority of the records on the radio that plays you think their lyrical or better yet more lyrical than Drake lmfao OMG Dude is not a extraordinary rapper but he’s a very good artist that has underground and mainstream appeal. It’s funny when he was regular Drake b4 “So Far Gone” everybody loved him and said that he’s gonna blow or should be signed. Now that it’s happening people bitchin “oh he’s getting big headed. He’s too cocky now. He’s not that nice the way people be sweating him. He ain’t that good. What do y’all see in him.” fuckin bitchin now. You haven’t listened to enough songs or his mixtapes and you complain now like “He’s aiight but why people sweating him now? Why my pussy hurt? Why I gotta dosh ” People just mad cuz the person that wanted to shine ain’t gettin the recognition yet. Everyone one who’s worth will get their respect whether it’s selling records or not.
For every person that hates on good artist should put their fav artist next to the artist their hating on to see ya credibilty in quality that you weirdos like.
…to the cat that said “Drake is the most relevant rapper,” I sure hope not. I like dude & everything but if he’s the most relevant rapper out right now hip-hop is in a sad state. I don’t know though, guess I’m out of touch. Not sure hip-hop has anything to do with “rapper” & vice versa.

Cosign.
I’ve been a Drizzy fan since homey had a Soundclick page.
I advise new listeners to go download this mixtape. It’s his first one called “Room for Improvement” and it’s definitely a classic. Then move in order thru the career of Drake’s music, AND THEN we can talk about if he has skill or not. (I will agree though that SO FAR GONE and the newer Drizzy may possibly be more lyrically low-fat compared to hungrier Drake…but hey, that happens to every artist I guess. Hopefully the album will reflect his fullest potential)

Clint Partie, I feel you
What I meant was he is the most relevant artist right now in the sense that’s he’s what’s hot right now and has a steam rolling going. I advise you to check out all his music. The homey is hip hop and a breath of fresh air (no matter how cliche that might sound).
But I can speak on behalf of all original Drake fans when I say that the Weezy connection was like a gift and a curse. He links with Weezy and skyrockets to the tops of peoples minds and starts getting noticed…but on the other hand, some of the originality and creativity shown in his previous tapes and flows disappear a bit.
But hip hop is making a comeback, moving into something I’d like to call the Platinum Era (a play on the Golden Era). 2008 and 2009 have seemed like a rebirth of real music again. There are new cats that are legends in the making right now, and I know this cat has to be on that list with a plethora of other artists who should be around for years and years to come.
“Hip hop wasn’t dead, the future just had to finish school first”
^^^
Don’t forget “So Far Gone” was an experiment of him clashing all his styles together to see what the reaction would be. He’s never did a mixtape with this much singing or songs with radio/mainstream appeal to it. He even said that don’t expect his album to sound like “So Far Gone” it’s gonna have r&b content but more of a lyrical approach.
@Young Son
Hot quote! Well hiphop sure did feel like it was dead for a minute though.
I’ve heard most of his music & love it, I just don’t really consider him a real “MC.” I don’t even really mean anything negative by that. In many ways he’s so much more (than a rapper or “hip-hop”). To me, hip-hop & MC’ing is a whole ‘nother animal. Drake’s like a real soul musician who happens to throw a little rap in his shit, which is fine.

Disagree. “Comeback Season” is a soulful mixtape top to the bottom. If he’s not a typical “I came from the hood” or “thug lifestyle” or “batter up bringing” his soulful perspective is gonna be about attaining the finer things in life and finding something to make your life whole. I respect that. Not all rappers and/or fans are gonna have the same happenings in life and I want to hear all the different perspectives even the kid who hasn’t struggled as much as the “hood kid”
i want to comment but it looks like showman and young son got it under control….
“He links with Weezy and skyrockets to the tops of peoples minds and starts getting noticed…but on the other hand, some of the originality and creativity shown in his previous tapes and flows disappear a bit.”
that’s my only complaint. happy dude is getting his buzz, he did what he had to do with the wayne affiliation. just wish it would have happened a different way, ahhh well.. i guess i gotta “get over it” (anyone who has read more than two drake posts by my knows this is my favorite drake song)
p.s. im pissed im the only one having troubles with that user shit… that means shit aint gone go away. fuck
that guitar is killin shit on the beat
Yeah fam…that Get Over It joint gets off…
But all week, and for the rest of the week “Room for Improvement” is going to be in heavy rotation for me.
“Yes, I’m literally Larnell Lewis with a kick and a snare
kick flip in the air
the kids sick till them jeans put a rip in the pair
just so the space ain’t restricted in here
breathe again think its obvious that they need my soul
Cousins at the door like ri mi fa so
i say aunty this is a safe career
she said Drake i told you there’s no skating here”
Don’t forget “So Far Gone” was an experiment of him clashing all his styles together to see what the reaction would be.
also known as r&b kareoke aka not having a style or swag of your own.
the nigga even fakes a southern accent.
kanye west sing AND rap jacking?
cmon lil nigga.
step your game up.
Drake exists because of degrassi fans first, waynes financing second. period.
Don’t forget “So Far Gone” was an experiment of him clashing all his styles together to see what the reaction would be.
^^^^ Guess that makes him no different than any of your other pop top 100′ r&b rappers.
Beats, hooks, gimmicks. No talent or even effort.
I basically agree with the defenders of Drake. But I don’t necessarily think he ‘dumbed down’ his lyrics though. I think with the experimental sound that came with So Far Gone, he simply took a different approach to his lyrics to make fit. Sometimes it’s not about making the dopest, most complicated rhyme scheme in the world. There’s more to crafting a song than that and I think Drake understood that.
I don’t think we’ve really seen a rapper who actually has a real singing voice. Charles Hamilton can’t sing, Kid Cudi can carry a small tune but isn’t really a singer, B.O.B. has a decent tone but it still isn’t a singers voice.
I think it’s great that Drake is bringing that into his music since it allows him to be more versatile and people should really open their minds to what an MC is and what garners respect in the rap community.
The only other rapper I know who REALLY has a singing voice is Phonte of Little Brother. Correct me if I’m wrong because I feel like I could be missing others.
Funny…who fakes a southern accent homey. The dude was born in Cananda…GREW UP IN MEMPHIS and then was living back in Canada during his TV career. He got into rapping and was around the southern greats like ThreeSix and all of them back in the day, so it’s only normal for his flow cadence to resemble where he honed his skills at.
That’s like Kanye…he raps like he’s from Chicago…cuz he grew up there.
But he was born in Atlanta.
Would you say Kanye is faking a midwest accent?
@funny
What’s the gimmick “little nigga” then?
You basically said all the things that require talent but couldn’t say what’s wrong with him or the “gimmick”. He’s faking something? What’s he faking? You hear his voice and hear an south accent lol Sure lol I’ve heard 1000′s of south rappers and none of their accents sound like Drake. His content is totally different from Kanye besides when their talking about clothing.
Just plain ole EXCUSES!!!! Plain ole judgmental excuses!
Hmm then what upcomer do you consider who has better quality? You obviously fixed your mind that you don’t want to listen to him and just hear him and obviously haven’t heard his music from mixtape one to now. Naming mixtapes couldn’t prove you listened to him because that’s common knowledge scrap.
Sidebar: Kanye is definitely my favorite rapper/artist (at least makes the top 3), but after full evaluation, I’d have to say “SO FAR GONE” is in rotation WAY more than 808s and Heartbreak.
I disagree with you on them having different content SHOWMAN3000. That’s where the comparisons between projects began in the first place. It was the story of love, love lost, women, reality of success and those types of themes from a man’s prospective. The only difference is that Drake rapped and also sung actual R&B vocals too…it just seemed to have more passion that Ye’s album. The only track on that album that could compete with the hungry passion of “SO FAR GONE” was the bonus track “Pinnochio Story”.
But as far as content, listen to it and you’ll see the similarities…like some of what Drake was talking about in “The Calm” compared to the line “My friends show me pictures of his kids, and all I could show em’ was pictures of my cribs” on “Welcome to Heartbreak”, etc
PS.
He was singing along with rapping years before Kanye started up with the whole auto-tune (fake singing in comparison to someone who actually sings) thing and “808′s & Heartbreak” transition.
Similar tones of content. I guess I can relate to Drake’s more because it went more in depth, was passionate and he’s closer to my age (I’m 20), compared to Kanye, who is 31.
Yeah. I think the first song he actually sung was on “B*tch is Crazy” from COMEBACK SEASON….
BUT
If you want to get on some real vintage ish…I had some footage from his 2004 Behind the Scenes Degrassi Interview where it shows him singing back in talent shows and stuff when he was 10…lol
So dudes BEEN vocalizing.
I’m hoping somebody uploads some footage of his concert in Toronto tonight.
Why would he deny writing for Wayne then put out a reference track for him? Unless…. Unless Wayne does his own verse, but I doubt it.
Bria’s A** Floss and “Bria’s Interlude”?
Any correlation?
I dig Drake
he reminds me of early usher
remember you make me wanna and nice & slow
anyone agree ??
hey showman3000 and youngson need to stop sucking that man DRake’s dick…forreal…they doing essays and bio’s on him like shit….he’s nice and all but take drakes dick out ya’ll mouths…sorry this is just what i see
@ Pennies: LOL! that shit was funny and true….
I still havent heard a single track from this cat, but he does have a buzz.. It’s hard for me to take cats seriously if the main reference to them is lil wayne… Just cant do it….
I was waiting for some lame to call support dickriding.
Lames don’t know how to show support.
I’ve been a fan since homey started and not just hoping on AFTER This Wayne cosign. Plus, the credibility of the opinion of someone who hasn’t even took the time to listen to the man’s catalog of music is just about non-existent. Opinions prior to the actual experience of checking out someone’s music is called hating.
Funny…who fakes a southern accent homey. The dude was born in Cananda…GREW UP IN MEMPHIS and then was living back in Canada during his TV career
During Degrassi = no accent.
Speaking normally = no accent.
speaking with friends/interviews = no accent.
accent you turn on and off = fake.
copying other artist flow/style = no originality
Everything Drake is about has been beat to death in the mainstream.
