For this week’s segment of Foundation Fridays, we dug up some previously unreleased Skyzoo footage. The rising-star reminds us of a producer who’s impact has transcended the MPC and paved the way for producers and emcees alike in 2009. Skyzoo dropped one of the first J-Dilla tribute tracks back in 2007 with Sky’s Last Donut, where he lyrically reminisces, “Without even knowing it homie, look how you shaped me / I owe you every part of my flow, I greatly / appreciate every drum pattern you drew / every kick, every snare, every sample you looped.” The beats in this interview are from the Donuts album, the first in a slew of posthumous release’s chronicling Dilla’s work.
