Before I end the night I had to get this track up that my girl Melanie shot to me. I have to admit, I’ve heard of Slakah the BeatChild but I haven’t heard Slakah the BeatChild. After two listens of this joint though I’m in need of his album, The Soul Movement v.1, like yesterday. Any fan of that Raphael Saadiq, Dwele, Dilla, Slum Village sound will agree… this is good music. The production is just what I needed right now. Oh… and Drake’s on the song as well haha. Canada really makes good music huh?

I had to download The Soul Movement Vol. 1 from one of my on-the-low sources because the album was not made available in the US. According to the homie Kenny Fresh, it’s finally getting US distribution and supposed to drop within the next couple of months. The album is superb, front to back. I highly recommend it to anyone. Whenever I play it off my iPod for someone, I always get “What is this?!”
He’s also part of a duo called Art of Fresh along w/ Canadian emcee D.O. It’s more of a dancy vibe (if you’re into that kinda thing) but it’s also ill. The album is called Back To The Earth and also nice.

This track is amazing. His voice is somewhat similar to Musiq Soulchild at times. I’m now on a mission to find that first album via the internets. Any help would be appreciated. Can’t purchase right now since I just got a $1,400 bill from my school that’s due on the 8th.

I just heard about Slakah the BeatChild today and after listening to the Enjoy Ya Self (original) and the version with Drake, I had to run out and pick up the album. This has to been one of the best R&B/Soul album I have heard in a while. This is album needs to be in any R&B/Soul Music fan collection.
Slakah will be performing a live set tonight at the Grand Star in Downtown L.A.’s Chinatown. 9pm @ 943 n. Broadway 90012. also featuring sets by Jimi James and Haz Solo. FREE All NIGHT.
