Asher Roth, I haven’t had a chance to, like, really get into everything, like, really get into what he’s about, because I’ve only hear a couple songs. There was talk about people saying he sounded like me, and he was doing this and that and, you know, trying to take what I do and do it. You know, shit like that. I’ve heard things. But the stuff that I’ve heard from him honestly, which certainly isn’t enough for me to make my own opinion and say, ‘Yeah, he does sound like me’ or ‘No, he doesn’t.’ But the couple of songs I’ve head, I don’t really think he does. You know what I mean? He’s doing his own thing. I can respect it, too, because at the end of the day, I think he’s dope.
…now what else do the haters need? What more could you ask for? I understand someone not liking Asher’s music, that’s cool… just ignore the posts then. It’s really easy. I promise you.

Eminem IS the type of guy to say whatever the hell he feels like it. If you ever paid attention to his music, or any of his books, you’d realize that half of the reason why he DOESN’T is because the label won’t approve. The man still needs to put food on his table. Only a fool would say “fuck the world” and literally act that way, especially when he needs to get paid. His daughter(s) mean more than the world to him, and he’d never do anything to jeopardize that.
So if you see him acting wise (or like a bitch, depending on who’s eyes you’re looking from…*ahem*) by backing down from a confrontation, it’s probably due to the fact that he’s looking at the bigger picture. You should too.

what you all need to realize is that since of the days of the Slim Shady LP, Eminem has matured. He’s not some 20-something guy hating everybody. I was saying Em bites his tongue and holds back in interviews quite frequently, in response to Shake saying that he “says what he wants” all the time. The only reason why I’m pointing this out is because it’s evident that Em was put on the spot and asked to address this notion people have about Roth sounding like him. Regardless of what his actual stance is, Em’s not likely going to say, “yeah, dude sounds like me and he’s using my old flow every now and then”. Because regardless of how much he likes to go at people, he’s actually quite humble. There’s always been a self-deprecating undertone to his shit. He’s never declared himself the best rapper, he just lets other people say it.
I don’t particularly care about Asher Roth. And he’s really got nothing on Em, but he’s just doing him. So I’m not wishing nothing bad for him. like every single professional review ive read says the same thing i already believe and from listening to the entire album myself, Ive formed my opinion, no its not hating when i say this.
Asher is a decent artist. he has a few good songs. I cant say ive heard a single good punchline from him, but he (usually/kind of) makes a cohesive track and he can be a competent story teller.
that being said, he runs out of subject matter fast, and the subject matter he has to begin with isnt very interesting (for most of the songs on asleep in the bread aisle)
his subject matter = weed, women, and TALKING about not being like em, with some breaks in between like his dream and fallin (im not including sour patch kids, since hes not convincing in the song and hes not saying much)
that being said, you guys should KNOW there is so many other artists out there who deserve the kind of buzz asher is getting. Yall post up some seriously sick artists with actually good albums (that are free btw) and a lot of them get maybe a compliment and then passed on.
example: Print. dude had a really good album (which was free and yet i would willingly pay for his shit over all this other shit that gets shine and has a price tag) and how much love does he get? 2 posts.

That is easy. But here’s my concern — 2DopeBoyz clearly likes Asher Roth’s music, which is cool. Roth makes good music. But when you post entries touting his music then also plaster the site with ads for Roth’s album, it leaves readers wondering where your loyalties lie. Are you only talking up the album because Roth is advertising? Or do you really like his music?

Asher’s album is not all that great…. but he has obviously has some lyrical skills… As I Em & lark on my Go Kart are nice… however Asher’s best song is the joint he did with Slick Rick called Y.O.U. – http://hypem.com/track/803891/Asher+Roth-Y.O.U.+(feat.+Slick+Rick)+(UK+Bonus+Track) – whether you like this song or not, it’s a quality track.
