This song is ill. Jeezy sounds so grimey over this beat. It really works with his vocals. I’d love to see an entire Jeezy album Kanye produced of dark beats similar to this.
I dug the scenes by the fire in the dark but I don’t enjoy the green scenery. While I understand it’s beautiful I don’t think it really matches the dark undertones of this song.

i hated 808′s 1st time i heard of auto tune and peoples remarks on it. i listened to it and lyrics are dope, kanye is a very talented dude. i always expect something great from him.

808s was indeed horrible. Move past the lyrics. Autotune fucked it up. I don’t care if it went platinum. I only see millions of people feeling sorry for him and he benefited another genre of music like Wayne is trying to do which says SELLOUT. 808s is a good album. It’s hip-hop influenced but isn’t strictly a hip-hop record (kanye called it art-pop). Yes, it bends the traditional classification of a rap record. I thought it was clever how he used autotune/the vocoder as an affect to create a specific mood and atmosphere. It was a dark, moody album that was organic (for Kanye). He made it from the heart and not simply to cash in on a phase.
It sold so well not because people felt sorry for him but because people find the music appealing. Is it an album you’ll bump everyday? No, it’s not supposed to be. It’s not “the good life.” It’s a moody album about individuality and relationships (from Kanye’s perspective).
What other album have you heard like that? Show me a record that uses an 808 in that fashion? Who uses the autotune/vocoder as mood enhance like Kanye did?

In the song “Coldest Winter” he is using none/very little autotune and that is his best vocals on the whole CD. The autotune was more of a mood setter. Using autotune as the scape goat and saying autotune is wack is just an excuse to dispell an artist you dislike, thats like hating the Lakers because they wear the stupid/girly color of purple.
Regardless, this video was ill. I don’t like the song that much but shit was well executed.

I think the video is pretty good…except it stops near the end.
As for the 808s debate, i think it is actually real good album. Its a good album to listen to as a whole. I was very sceptical about it when he announced it was going to be in autotune but was pleasantly surprised because it turned out really good.
Although i still play college dropout and graduation more often. I don’t know why but i think Late Registration didn’t work as a whole album. It didn’t flow very well whereas graduation did very nicely.
Oh and listen to the ‘say you will’ cover by Mos Def. Pretty good.
