Quick check in at the dopehouse as I’m readying to hit the courts. Lead single off the upcoming Buckshot & KRS-One album; produced by Havoc. The title should hint at the direction of the joint. Very dope… big shouts to my man Vega! UPDATE: Survival Skills drops August 25th on Duck Down Records. Check out the rhyme book for the lyrics and hit the jump for the (single) artwork. Thank you kindly Matt.

its ok the hook is kinda corny and that beat is mad old couldn’t they use something more origonal?
KRS and Buckshot make an entire song about the state of the industry, and we are supposed to bob our heads and dance to this ? Where is the rhythm, the groove, the swing in the music ? Even their spoken parts sound like a lot of dry talk that happens to end up with rhyming words, but the soul of the poetry itself (if that’s what they call this) is buried in this boring press-conference and history lesson. It’s not entertaining anymore to make music about the industry. It’s old. These MC’s are old. This song is old. This press conference has been delivered over and over and over again. Let’s make fresh and new music and move the people ! Couldn’t they have used a newer fresher beat not this old washed up one? It doesn’t even sound like hip hop they now too sound like robots like d-12 or sumthin! WTF
Survival Skills droppin’ Aug 25th
I agree with Pumastyz. It just isn’t very good. Hopefully the album will have some better tracks on it. The artwork’s pretty corny as well.
Pumastyz wants his queer dance music, I say we let him have it. What the fuck are you even on this site for? I think you might feel more comfortable at Soulja Boy’s website.

@ 2Krill…I agree w/ you 100%! Although i’m late in this discussion, that’s a very lame statement, and it’s obvious they missed the point. The same as the other kat who backed up the statement. By actually working for a few of these labels, both the “majors” and indies, I have more respect for the indie kats. They are feeding you with something for your mind and most of them have better shows. Now-a-days, many of these new school “queer” rappers, who are nothing but pop “entertainers”, have gotten away from and don’t know what it means to do classic material. This is the reason why I stopped doing marketing for those “major” labels. All of it started getting too corny. In a nutshell, it’s like my homey Mookie Jones said in one of his verses….”We traded in our whips and chains….for “whips” and chains”.
As far as a production standpoint, b/c I am a PRODUCER (not a “beatmaker”), songwriter/poet/journalist, DJ, and a musician, you don’t have to have these same old recycled beats like they use in all this commercial, bubblegum pop “ish”. I can play 50 of those joints and they all have the same patterns and sound kits. But hey….leave it up to a youngster who has little knowledge of music or the arts to make comments like that. Experience is your best teacher.
This album is a Klassic … This is real Hip-Hop!!! If you want dance muzik … I think you need to move to Europe … Maybe Denmark!!! Talk all the Queer Azz pop rappers with ya’ …
