KiD CuDi – Hot97 Interview (Video)

Funk Flex keeps it all the way real in his latest interview with KiD CuDi about his views on internet started rappers. Speaking on the pros and cons of the rap world; who CuDi likes and more. Gotta respect Flex for keeping it 100 and letting the world know his faults and that he’s trying to embrace the internet world. I was just like them when I heard the title Lark On My Go-Kart. Totally missing the Lisa drop haha.

Flex: I guess I have to learn to grow a certain respect for artists from the internet. I’m learning today. I guess it’s scary for me being a DJ and a fan of the music being in a nightclub and not knowing where it came from and everybody else does. I’m learning to embrace the movement.

Dope interview, part 2 after the jump…

I look forward to seeing if the Internet Mash Out goes through. Who do you think CuDi will bring up?

  1. I gotta say that i agree with flex on a lot of things….great interview all the way around

  2. flex has no knowledge of the new era of hip hop…

  3. “souljah boy makes “RECORDS” when my 3 year old son knows the lyrics and is dancing to your record you got a banger”

    -Funkmaster Flex

yet it is hard for him to embrace “Internet” rappers which are basically artists that are “Independent” considering people like Funkmaster go by format which is controlled by the program directors.

This guy defines the term goof. Nothing flex says or does embodies hip hop.He is a puppet that is in his 40′s.

  4. Yo shake, so what does lark on my go kart mean? Ill hand my late pass in later…

  5. He should bring Wale, B.O.B., Blu, Asher, and CH. It would be interesting to see what they would do over “Quiet Storm”, “Nas Is Like”, and “1-900-Hustler”. You know Flex is gonna play them joints.

  6. ^That would be dope. All i think Asher was saying w/ Lark On My Go Kart was that he prefered her over Kelly Kapowski…lol.

  7. for someone constantly on the radio and the music biz, i expect Flex to know more about this movement from the internet. He is way behind. I can’t stand listening to the radio anymore cuz they just play crap (most of the time). And the songs on the radio get played out that I rather find new songs through sites like this. I think that is how a lot of people are feeling about music today. Hopefully radio will evolve and just let good music (internet rappers or not) flood the airwaves.

  8. Flex is a JOKE!

  11. Lark = Lark Voorhies = Lisa Turtle = Saved by the bell…ya dig?

  12. internet rapper? isnt wale on the new kanye record and on billboard?

so back then when people were pressing vinyl in the 90′s era…they were vinyl fat beats rappers?

rappers cant control the fucking media outlets and platforms,…so rappers on the fm dial..are radio rappers?…thats so gay…flex is lost….dude bigs up souljah boy and chicken noodle soup and all that shit…angie martinez atleast a little even if its from just simply wanting to be around cock..meh

  13. i meant to say kid cudi^^^i said wale by mistake

  14. sooo when will this go down?

  15. it needs to be Cudi, Drake, Asher, Curren$y and Wale on that mash up

  16. SMH at me for forgetting Wiz Khalifa

  17. *sigh* i need to get into Drake before it’s too late.

seeing that i’m in Ohio, and my friends KEEEP TELLING ME about Drake.. constantly.

    blah.

i heard about 4 songs from dude… first impressions were: He should stick to singing- he does that very well compared to the rapping.

    but whatever.

    GREAT fucking interview btw.

  18. flex is a cave man. but i cant be mad because im a young dude just turned 19 and i came up listening to what was hot, lol 50, em luda etc. i had no pc just a discman or cd player, when ipods got popular here in caribbean barbados and rihanna made it, rihanna’s bro went to my school and was in my class after hearing she was on her way as a star i was like wtf. instantly inspired.

lol sorry to ramble but i dont kno much about flex’s era so i cant front. but this is an example of how radio stations just play what they are given sometimes.

  19. I wish everybody hope off Slim Suburb’s cock.

Blu, Wale, Naledge, Skyzoo, Drake. Sucks that Cudi is the spearhead for this as… He can’t rap. If this goes down watch him get molested by whoever is up there.

  20. Yeah Flex sounds like he is one step behind everyone else. The reason is, perfect example at the end of the interview, he wants one of his people to contact SRC’s people to get the LArk record. When he could simply jump on this website and downlaod it his damn self, if he simple knew HOW to. I like flex personally I have a bunch of old freestyle records he made back in the day I own I think all four of his Cds that came out in the 90′s. Anyways that being said step your game up Flex this is why radio is always one step behind. As a dj myself personally I converted to digital from vinyl 3 or 4 years ago and now the music is out there for sure, for free even.

  21. Yeah
I actually didn’t know he meant Lark as in Saved by the bell until after I watched it a few times, saw the high school, and some black girl riding in his go kart.
