all you people talking shit about Crooked I need to do what you tells you to in the letter. STFU until you actually listen to some of his stuff. How are you gonna be talking shit about a cat you never listened to? Listen to his hip hop weekly freestyles, then compare his lyrics to P's on Blood Money and HNIC pt 2. There's no comparison: Crooked I right now would murder P lyrically. So I think he has a right to respond to the guy who dissed him.

I can agree with varying aspects of what Prodigy wrote. For example, I agree that a vicious cycle brought upon by the radio and corporate heads ruined people's perception of rap and it's role in hip-hop. They being DJs, talk show hosts, corporate executives, etc aren't only to blame. There are reasons why there are shifts in the presentation of various rap styles and it's due to us, the consumer. Though, we become bored because it becomes played out - often due to over saturation - but we still accept the DJ's playlists and don't act to change the situation. The cycle was mainly created/perpetuated by corporate figures looking to make a dime off hip-hop but continues due to everyones role.

He talks about rap used to belong to the elite. I understand what he's trying to state. That there was a common recognition of great, talented rappers where as today there's a general feeling that anyone can pass - images are manufactures and sold to a precise degree despite ability. Because the talented ones aren't recognized at a mainstream level due to politricks, the internet has allowed them to exist in the public sphere. Similarly, aspiring rappers can now exist in the public sphere by the internet. The rappers pool has increased ten times due to the wonder of the internet. I find this to be a positive then a negative.

So, his top 40 list is tight, I would switch a couple cats out and add a couple different figures but the majority of it is hard to hate on.

Likewise I can't help but to feel a lot of rappers of a certain style get mad when another style gets popular. For example, East Coast catching feelings when West Coast grew big and the same today while Southern cats rule the airwaves. I think variation is a positive sign that hip-hop grows. If it doesn't change with time, it'll die.

While, Prodigy preaches on about mental slavery I can't take him serious. These are choices we all make as individuals. The white man blame game concerning one's choices on clothing and jewelery is pathetic. Furthermore, he's in prison so it all seems a tad bit hypocritical.

Additionally, he's been in the game since he was like 12, similar to Lil Wayne, and it's hard for me to believe he's been living the street life.

@ Kush - "How many quoteables does Prodigy have?"

A few. P is serious with it, but I was feeling like he was way out of line (and has been lately) claiming Crooked I doesn't belong on that list.

He had words for Big Pooh of LB for writing a pretty convincing blog about how P fell off, from a fan's perspective. You never know his being locked up will effect someone, but P has about lost it now. Every letter he's more off than before.

He put some wack rappers on his top list, it was like someone read him an MTV list, and he just rearranged it and threw some friends in.

His list was way off, and I would've put him on it - and Crooked I.

^LMAO at not putting himself 5 times!

THIS NIGGA IS LOONEY TUNES. HE SAID!:

"I was just readin Vibe Magazines "Best Rapper Alive 2008" article and that is
a perfect example of the kind of fools we have in this world, in this day and time.

Vibe says the 920,000 people voted for it. I would personally Bitch Slap all
920,000 of the voters if given the opportunity. Who in the fuck picked
Crooked I, Flo Rida and Rich Boy? How did Vibe approve of this?"
