That “Barack O Drama” shit is so ignorant. Makes me want to change the track every time I hear it, somebody smack this idiot. WTF is up with everyone trying to make Barack’s name into their alias now?

The Block Obama made sense because it went with the election and bringing change to the hip hop game, but WTF does Barack O Drama have to do with anything?

I’m glad CL’s progressively dropping new material. Last year he was only on 2 joints, that Nujabes ish which is crack and AZ’s Magic Hour joint. Hoping for some more on constant basis in 09 tho.

Hip-hop is not built on originality, it is built on taking what’s around you and making it yours. I find it weird when folks that claim love for the music spend all the energy they can muster telling others how it should or shouldn’t be. Hip hop did not come from a book, did it?

I get what Lil’ Ish is saying though. I’m not a biiig old school fan, since i wasn’t here to witness that era (born in ’89). But being a music fan, in general, i do my homework. I like to know about the people who paved the way for some of my favorite MCs today.

And when that Honor Roll mixtape came out, i went back and listened to every original version of the songs that were remade.

So I appreciate tapes like this… it shows fellow rappers paying homage AND it educates the newer generation to the classics.

… but what do i know?

it is not disrespectful, it is just keeping his legacy alive and introducing him to more young cats like me. it is because of these mixtapes that got me into b.i.g. and old school hip hop. so tommy i completely disagree with you

thats pretty dumb because the true legacy is in HIS MUSIC. Not some half ass tribute remake. If you want Biggie go to your favorite local CD joint and cop his CDs, forget some remake. and it seems like other ppl agree with me. to quote Michael Scott “youve been roasted”. ha, you will only get that joke if you watch The Office.

i never said his legacy is in the remakes i just said the remakes are allowing young people who never knew about big to listen to him in a new school type way. do you think some young people will ever go back and listen to his album? i know some friends who think dont listen to old school stuff so if i was to give them one of these remixes and show them the original song, there is a good chance that they might get interested.
