Now this is how interviews should be done. Get in depth with the person and stop asking them the exact questions everyone else would in the same position. In part 1 above, Elliot speaks with HHC on how he got into hip hop journalism, what he hopes to achieve with his new site RapRadar (which drops March 1st), what keeps him motivated and how he came up with the moniker, YN. Part 2 below, he goes in about the DJ Vlad x Joe Budden x Ransom situation, Kanye’s comments about Rihanna & Beyonce and more. He also gives upcoming journalists x bloggers some advice. So listen up!

“Who’s this? Sorry, I was born after January 1, 1990..”
dude was editor in chief of xxl man..
WHAT elliot wilson and XXL are fire! XXL is the hottest rap/hip hop mag in the last decade! For paul and YN to do the math and repect the internet and the blog sites, and go hard with raprader….then I have no choice but to fuck with them.( No Homo) Much repect to 2 dope for leading the way!
Here’s the problem with RapRadar: Since it’s funded by Paul Rosenberg, a hip hop mogul, no reader can count on the site’s journalistic integrity. Maybe YN has only the best intentions, but how can we expect him to fairly and accurately cover Interscope or Shady or anything else associated with the guy who pays the bills?
Journalism is more than just interviewing rappers promoting their latest album. It’s more than four-page spreads of video chicks. It’s about cutting past the bullshit to let people know what’s really going on.
And YN’s track record speaks for itself — remember the 4 billion XXL covers that featured Interscope artists? In fact, that’s probably why Rosenberg stepped to him with this offer. YN’s been in his pocket for years.
