Looking through the archives of 2DBz I’m sad to admit I’ve only mentioned Cage in a handful of posts. Hopefully that will change with the release of his upcoming album on it’s way (according to El-P). Anyways… I noticed Grand Good put up a demo track, that was recorded over a decade ago, that I don’t remember hearing at all! And since I’m sure a good selection of you haven’t even heard of Cage outside the lines Eminem has thrown in the past*, and this demo isn’t exactly a “become a fan” record; I’ve included some of my favorite tracks off each of his albums, and an Eastern Conference All Stars compilation…

movies is probably is best work, hells winter is good, weatherproof was raw but pretty good and all the shit he did was smut peddlers and leak bros was okay (leak bros one release was probably the best album of its decade purly about drugs) but once he started doing his own stuff i got way into him

IMO Hell’s Winter was definitely way better than Movies for the Blind (which is still a pretty tight cd). Everybody brought their A+ game to Hell’s Winter. Considering the many times I have heard those Em lines I didn’t even think about the reference to Cage, lol. It’s hard times out there for the real underground MC’s, thanks for giving Cage some shine!

Cage is like an acquired taste and a lot of cats aren’t gonna feel him but me for instance has been a fan since his early days “For Your Box” mixtape. “The Illest Four Letter Word”….I appreciate the post Shake. ‘Depart From Me” should be ill.
