Brother Ali – The Rope-A-Dope (Mixtape)

Things like this unofficial compilation of Brother Ali tracks (spotted at RH) always portray themselves as a double edged sword with me. On one hand it’s good to see people put an effort in to get a phenomenal artists’ work out there; I just  can’t help but get all indifferent when it’s put together half assed like this was. Just a folder with random mp3s thrown together. I took the time out to rename the files and put them in order for ya’ll as I personally want everyone to hear the great’ness that is Brother Ali. So again, shouts to Silvaboombaye for the effort.

Tracklist + Download link after the jump…

Speaking of… I’m in the middle (see: 1/3) of putting together my personal mix of Ali I was gonna share with ya’ll. Something I plan on doing much more (with artists I trully respect)  in 2009. Yessir! Also, to the Australian dopeboyz/girlz… Bro Ali & Atmosphere are touring there. If you don’t have tickets to any of these stops, I strongly suggest you change that!

  6. its such a set back
cuz most of these artists r new to me…

but yeah i think i saw him on rac city a while back

  7. Lovely, thanks. Especially for making the effort and cleaning up the tracks. God how I hate messy compilations or untagged files. Like, how you gonna spend the time compiling and uploading but not giving the shits decent names etc.. That way every single downloader then has to put in the effort to make it listenable/findable on a player. Sheesh. ;)

  8. They want you to be able to listen to it, not easily integrate it into your player. I organize my music totally out of the ordinary anyway.

  9. Nice, I’m DLing the OCD version then.

  10. good lookin-out Minneapolis like yo!

  11. heres my double-edged sword…i like being able to help people check out songs they might have overlooked, hook them up with some cool artwork…but of course you have the people who still complain about it, kind of discouraging in regards to doing another collection in the future. in regards to the artwork, it’s a gray scale colour scheme with a hint of blue, but if you dont like it i can send you the illustrator/photoshop files and you can make your adjustments. thanks for the positive feed. brother ali is amazing.

  12. i said nothing about the artwork did i? i was just commenting on the way the files were thrown in the folder. sorry if that bothered you but my opinion on that will always stand.

  13. true. you can right click and sort by tracks…but i at least made it so if you click and drag into itunes…shit is in order

ah well. i’ll give you the exclusive next time, you can clean it up for moi.

  14. thanks for sharing y’all. respect
