I directed the video and you’re right, we did have access to expensive equipment and a Mac and all that. But how do you make a video for only $42? You get as much as you can for free! During the video I actually wasn’t in any courses in the Media Arts department at USC, so they wouldn’t let us check out equipment initially. So we made a deal where we made them 2 PSAs that they needed and in return we could use some equipment for 1 weekend. And keep in mind, at South Carolina, the equipment ain’t that great.

We got a lot of other stuff free to by being nice to people and crew members having connections. This guy Joe Jacobson owns a band practicing space called “The Warehouse” that he let us use for free. Our choreographer’s mom cooked for us (No, Trilogy, not KFC) so we had free catering one day. I needed a monkey mask for one part of the video, so I bought one for $60 from Party City and then returned it after we shot the video. See? That’s how you make a cheap video.

This is dope! I don’t think anyone would have guessed that it only took $42 to make this and that it was done in one take if you hadn’t told us. I don’t really know what it takes to make a video but my guess is they already had a lot of the props or they borrowed them and they spent the $42 on actual media it was recorded on. Or they spent the $42 on KFC to feed all the people who participated. Either way if they can make something this dope off of just $42 imagine what they could do with that 700 billion dollar bailout money? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
