its not just vocoder. if u listen to the album in its entirety you’d noticerthere’s a pretty good variety of filters and distortions. That’s the art. Shaping and twisting his vocals over the instrumentals. It’s not the same as a T-Pain album.

Exactly he’s taking the vocoder and made it his own. The album also really grows on you and works better when you listen to the whole thing all the way through, its a very complete peace work of art.

For the real reason this album is ill all you have to do is listen to a song like Welcome to Heartbreak. This is the most thought out and meaningful shit to come from hip hop in a looooong time.

The albums dope!! I agree, it’s nothing like T-Pain… There’s different effects throughout the whole thing. And T-Pain’s album sucked IMO.

the dudes who invented hip-hop obviously couldn’t have been listenning to it. they were listening to funk, rock&roll, disco, reggae (too early?…someone fact check me)and all that. So the took that old school flavor and came up with something new hip, and different.
the problem wehave now in hip-hop is a lack of originality. Hip-Hop’s too popular. Niggas are listening to other niggas CDs and thinking “I want to create that” instead of “I want to create good music.”

Just think of the niggas who we consider talented within the rap genre. Scarface bumps rock. Joe Buddens into alternative rock and metal. Jigga etc. Rappers need to get off eachothers dicks, and take influences from other places. Hip-Hop’s becoming inbred.

Despite an open mind and being a huge Ye fan, it took a second listen for me to get into the record. I enjoyed both singles but was put off on the first listen. It also helped hearing this interview. I’ve been a big supporter of Ye and this is additional proof why he’s the shit.
its genius…just as a fan of music, what he did on this album takes kanye to a new level on the music scene. the pinocchio story at the end is amazing.

The popular choice is to hate the album, so I like the album because I like it for it is. Kanye’s really broke down some boundries here, and the overall outcome is amazing. Remember to cop this one, and not like Untitled where everyone who said they liked it never ending up buying it.

The joint at the 8:15 mark was “There Will Be Tears” by Mr. Hudson most people in the UK know him from the band he was in “Mr Hudson & The Library” Kanye just signed him to a solo deal on G.O.O.D. Music. He’s featured on the track Paranoid on Ye’s album.

that’s the reason why i listen to hip hop in the first place. if it wasn’t for hip hop i don’t think i would be listening to the likes of king tubby, miles davis, etc., etc.

808′s and heartbreak is innovative and dope,
I play say you will and welcome to heartbreak, and just the music itself reminds me of lupes overall dark tone from The Cool. Its like im hearing sounds from XY coldplay, Hot Fuss the killers.
And dude is right by saying Kanye set himself apart with his use of the vocoder.

On some unbiased, biased shit…I wanted to HATE this fucking album. Because when you think ‘voice-coder’, you think, T-Pain, D’Wayne Carter, Ron Brownz etc. etc.
With that said…it’s good music (pun intended). The album is dope, from a music lover’s stand point. If you’re coming into this thinking you’re going to hear a rap album, then of course you’re going to have some disdain for it. If you want the typical rap album, then pick up a mixtape nigga. However, if you come into it with an open mind, and an interest in hearing something ‘fresh’ then you will mos definitely enjoy the album. Young niggas still in highschool or just entering college probably wont appreciate this. It’s a different mind state you need to be in to APPRECIATE this shit. 808′s and Heartbreaks is an album to zone out to. And album where you light a joint(rolling papers niggas, no blunts) get your shorty a nice bottle of arbor mist or something if she don’t smoke, sit in the crib, draw back the blind, throw on a foreign film…and zone out.
