Brother Ali is too often overlooked. In all honesty, The Undisputed Truth was as close to a perfect album as anything has been in the past 5 or so years.
Rounding out my list would be Blu, Elzhi, Lupe (Assuming he counts as an artist of “now”), and either Phonte or Jay Electronica. Wale gets honorable mention.
Best producers right now: Black Milk, Jake One, and Sabzi (of Blue Scholars/Common Market).
