This is definitely something a lot of people wouldn’t expect MIMS to come with. I know he has this type of shit in him and it showed on a few joints off his debut album, but it was overlooked by This is Why I’m Hot, etc. What do the dopeboyz and dopegirlz think about hip hop being so political now?
BaRock Star produced by the Blackout Movement is the most important record I’ve ever done because with my music I stress the importance of hope and determination in overcoming life challenges. People with similar backgrounds who have defied similar odds like myself can be successful. I think Barack Obama defied a lot of odds and turned negative aspects of his life into hope for every single person, whether black or white, struggling to progress in America. I will continue to release music that speaks to the people of our beautiful country as long as there’s a platform to have my voice heard. Please vote for Barack Obama on November 4th because Barack Obama will provide us with the change we need. – MIMS

Music Is My Saviour Was An Ok Album There Was Some Good Lyrical Content But It Tend To Get Overlooked Or Pushed Aside When Your First And Number 1 Single Is This Is Why Im Hot To Which The Hook Is That x4 But That Being Said I Love It When Politics And Hip Hop Merge And In This Political Climate Im Not Suprised It Is More And More But I Like This Joint By Mims The Beat Goes Hard And I Dig President Obamas Speech On It This Being Said Mosh>>Barock Star
oy vey.
Nice.
LMAO!!! Shake, Meka did you hear this nigga say “Philantropee”?
the greatest thing about hip hop and music period, is when some shit is goin on in the world we speak on it and people listen
wow, didn’t know MIMS had it in him.
this is A LOT better than I thought it would be
Hell yea hip-hop goin political is good thing… and hell yea mims has REAL talent, making a song like this aint nothing…. haha…thanks for the hook up 1
Dope.
i guess no one noticed the ignorant line he said
“When we control the whips and put the chains on them.”
why wish slavery on others what jackass
@ markeith
well he said
“When we control the whips and put the chains on them
i bet they wont turn they backs like it ain’t on them”
i felt like he meant if it was the other way around, not wishing it on others…but whatever he might be a jackass
Thats his way of saying that black people of america are too ignorant of their own condition. like…if white people were in the same condition they’d react to it. but they just act the chains aren’t on everything’s fine and dandy while the slave masters of today profit from the helplessness and exploitation.
makes sense noxx
i hate that hip hop is getting all political right now, i listen for my entertainment and i don’t want to hear whining about shit, and i don’t want to hear what some uneducated person who doesn’t know two shits about the political system as a whole, free markets, economics, the environment, or shit at all basicly tell me a bunch of bullshit that is ignorant if you understand what they are talking about. and im real sick of hearing communist bullshit in rap like immortal technique, i won’t even bump his shit anymore
oh and im voting for barak obama so don’t think im a republican or racist or some shit
first is lil wayne talking about katrina in tha carter 3
than nas untitled
than its ice cube more political in his album
than its the game letter to the king
than its Young Jeezy
Now its Mims
hip hops getting political
decent track and everything, but didnt barak ask the hip hop community to be easy with the shout outs?
Hip-hop is getting political? Ever heard of…I don’t know…Public Enemy or KRS-1? Maybe politics is making it’s way into more ‘mainstream’ hip-hop and people are noticing?
thewhjat: I agree with alot of what you said in your first post, but to suggest in your second post that someone who isn’t pro-Obama is Repulican or racist is ridiculous.
Fuck all that why hip hop is getting political shit!!!!! At least i can listen to something that doesnt have to deal with bitches hoes drugs and money for a chance. At least he doin somethin positive and he dont have that fucking electronic T Pain voice on that shit cause every song on the radio has it now!!!! LOL The reason hip hop is in the state that it is, is because people stopped listening to it for quality and lyricism, and idiots started to listen to it just for entertainment. Now even artist that actually have some lyrical content dumb they shit down so they can make a fucking dollar!!!!
Hip-Hop is by nature political. Read the history behind it. The politics of abandonment stupid.
@Dwayne
Don’t forget add Chamillionaire’s Ultimate Victory wit “The Evening News”
Music is an art of expression, & opinion. Hip Hop in one way shape or for has always been political. PARENTAL ADVISORY meaning the contents may not be suitable for everyone’s listening pleasure but Yet protected by the 1st Amendment (Freedom of speech). Don’t like it change the station. Just as everyone else in this great imperfect country we all have the right and freedom of speech and opinion. If you feel Hip Hop is too political or knock an artist for expressing his given right for his voice to be heard on a POSITIVE TOPIC That would most def. be your opinionated right. So lets keep listening to the songs about the B!tchs, G@ns, Drugs, and Murder… Big Up to to those who can recognize positive change…..
