^i agree i know of alot of raw white mc’s i havent figured out why all the attention is on him. I do like his music tho,its his swag and the way he carries himself. Hes not rappin for rap or rappin for money hes doing it for fun.

I’m from Portland, OR & I’ll give y’all a little rundown of cats that murder Asher Roth…just off the top of the head (…& this is just Portland, OR)…Mic Crenshaw, Destro (Boom-Bap Project), Lifesavas (Vursatyl, especially, but Jumbo, for that matter, too), Ohmega Watts, Nykwil, KiewNikon, Rob Nice, Cool Nutz, Anuff, Pele, MyG, Deshaun, Libretto, & I’m sure I’m forgettin’ a bunch of people but u get the picture. Look any of ‘em up on myspace or whatever & see for yourself.
i just don’t get your base. so you don’t think asher is THAT good and you are better yourself. instead of talking down on the kid and bringing a list of who is better. why not keep doing you and get to where you want. maybe YOU got to stretch your marketing game or something different to be heard. ash got a co-sign from drama and cannon and that is what boomed him to the forefront of the mainstream audience. i agree with a few of the artists you said and that they have more lyrical talent. but there are reasons they are where they are, and ash is where he is.

Bottom line: Asher Roth can rap, he’s nice in fact, but dude is not so special that he should have Mos and Enuff and them so eagerly co-signing.
Fuck naming white rappers, there are a bunch of other rappers period who rightfully deserve this type of shine. Maybe it does all come down to hustling, but the music and lyrics should take priority, not exploiting the fact that this is an above average white guy during the absence of Eminem. Because really, that’s all he is.
Not to mention his music isn’t really great. His hottest song is someone else’s beat. It’s almost like Weird Al Yankovic re-doing Roc Boys. Which pretty much amounts to a gimmick. The next thing you know his lead single will be everywhere and he will be the next Afroman (can a white guy be the next Afroman?).
Now, with all that said, I hope he rapes this bullshit ass industry for every last dime and has the last laugh.
