I don’t know about ya’ll but I cracked up when Cham dubbed himself Barack Oballa haha. Him and DJ Drama are kings of that shit. Anyways, Koopa hits the campaign trail for Mixtape Messiah 4. The non-cheap fans can cop here. And if you upset still, call him up (832.514.4730) to bitch and moan.
I don’t even know how I missed Legend’s email this morning, because I didn’t go to sleep til damn near 5 this morning myself. Ah well. New Music Cartel: we don’t sleep, cuz sleep is the cousin of death.
Legend just sent over this new track from Dante. Yeah, I’m calling him Dante until the day he gets off his high horse and starts delivering good music.
Andrew does what he does and unleashes another high quality rare x unreleased joint from the Lupe vaults. This time Gemstones (Gemini then) joins him over some Prolyfic production.
Here’s the latest single off D.I.R.T., in stores September 30th. Produced by the Justus League’s Khrysis. And for a bonus, here is a Shade 45 freestyle as well. And we all know how Sean P can get down on the mic. Props to Matt.
What always amazed me was how productions would feature so many samples crammed into one four-minute song. In their earlier days, ATCQ was definitely a proponent of that method, so much so to the point where if you blinked you’d miss some of them. Definitely a dope trend that I miss. SHAKE UPDATE: OKP just put up a new Q-Tip record to enjoy.
So in between the hubbub of the Democratic National Convention was some random-ass hip-hop festival I attended the same weekend. Here Wale performs his better-known mixtape hits for a, um, raucous crowd.
I must say that I’m happy that WHH records these sessions because the only thing I watch on the TV is sports (and Chelsea Lately). And I also have to say that it’s dope to see emcees actually freestyling still. Having fun and spitting rhymes.
Here are a few things I meant to post the other day but let it slip further and further down in my inbox. Above is a video for Ill Bill’s Billions On My Mind (directed by Triple Beam Productions) and below are two joints off his upcoming album, The Hour of Reprisal. As dope as the Premo produced joint is, I don’t think I’ll ever live down the thoughts of how Hov could’ve sounded over it!
