I missed watching this live (and apparently should punch myself in the face, right Black?) but I knew it would be online in minutes and sure enough PoliticsTV came through. I missed out on posting all the other speeches from the likes of Bill & Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, at the Democratic National Convention so check their YouTube page for it all.

O.B.A.M.A Chi-Town Represent Freestyled wit NO Papers
Ummm I’m very much in support of Obama, and I am born and raised in Chicago but I’ll be damned if he didn’t write his speech and practice many many times before getting on stage in front of nearly 90,000 for the biggest speech of his life. He didn’t have any papers with him which is cool but it was definitely not freestyled either lol.. Obama 08!
lookalive guys…there’s never papers up there with the speaker. They’re being reflected from transparent teleprompters on the left and right side of his audience vantage point. what’s wild about Obama’s speech skills is that he doesn’t favor one over the other (like most do) and he equally looks at both of them real natural-like.
btw, Michelle is the only one who really does go off the cuff and freestyles a lot of her speeches. Not her DNC speech Monday but a lot of other ones.
Hell of an orator, but yes, he has telepromptors.
Obama says all the right things (Ex. This election isn’t about me, it’s about you!). He’s a great PR man. That said, I have no idea what he stands for. I know he has a record as the most liberal senator in the country. He stands up and promises the sun. Sorry, no one is delivering the sun. Not Obama. Not McCain. The presidential race turns into a popularity contest – on some American Idol shit – complete with the celebrity endorsements who’s politics in no way reflect the average citizen in this country. Presidential candidates find out what the people and their lobbyists want to hear, and then they speak out in support of their ideas. I can’t say I know who I’m voting for yet. I find the ‘Vote or Die’ shit is hilarious. People who don’t pay attention or know what the issues are go out and vote on some superficial shit. People talking about not voting for McCain because he’s a ‘crusty old white dude’ is laughable. If people are voting based on that shit, they should save their vote IMO. I’m neither a Democrat or Republican, but top Democrats in this country such as Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Al Gore, and Ted Kennedy are lunatics, and none of these individuals are as liberal as Obama. (On a side note, Al Gore is the biggest joke of all. He didn’t even win his home state during the 2000 election. His quasi science & his ridiculous movie serve only for his own personal gain, bringing him MILLIONS of dollars while he tries to position himself for the head of the EPA. The fucker even claimed he invented the internet and just compared Obama to Abraham Lincoln. SMMFH.)
Obama talks about taking out ‘Osama bin Laden and his Lt’s if we have them in our sites’. He essentially threw his party mates Clinton & Gore under the bus. Clinton & Gore had intelligence on Bin Laden, had him in their sites, and they let him go. (They also did nothing when the U.S.S. Cole US embassy’s were bombed.) Sure, he says he would, but I’m not sure Obama would engage either. I’ve said it before, but Obama has very little experience overall. People will say Eisenhower had little (or no)political experience, but he had 2 decades of military experience. He was a successful Five Star War General during WWII with accomplished leadership ability and was the first supreme commander of NATO prior to becoming president. Besides all that, it’s a much different world today than it was in the 1950’s. Obama has no foreign policy experience. He hasn’t yet completed a full term as a congressmen. He’s spent 300 days in the Illinois State Legislature, where he voted “present” only 130 times. He voted “no” on a measure that would have made it impossible for sex offenders to be released from jail early. And, he’ll be raising taxes of the everyday citizens.
I realize most people here are pro-Obama and I’m not trying talk shit and piss people off. This is just my take.
homie got my vote!
I guess I’ll be the guy to refute your position One ID..
I’ll just take it line by line..
“I have no idea what he stands for”
Did you watch the speech?
-World Class Education for all citizens
-Healthcare for all (“The same healthcare that congress gives themselves”)
-Investements in Green Energy
-Closing corporate tax loopholes
-Tax breaks for middle and low income families (McCain supports the Bush tax code which favors the richest 1%) ((If you make less than $200,000 a year which we all do, you are better off with the Obama tax code despite what Faux News says))
-Better on the Economy (McCain is quoted as saying he doesn’t know much about the economy, which is obvious because he supports Bush’s tax policy)
-Pro Choice (McCain is Pro Life (meaning against a woman’s right to choose) this is important because the President nominates the Supreme Court Justices who actually decide on things such as abortion, civil rights, warrantless wiretapping etc.)
-BETTER Judgment (ie. Obama was AGAINST the Iraq war, if you are like me and you didn’t want to go into Iraq in the first place, he represents you) ((He is also responsible for the current exit strategy of 16 months that Iraqi President Al-Maliki agreed with and that the Bush Administration has finally started pushing as well))
“I know he has a record as the most liberal senator in the country.”
-I disagree with statement. I know that you heard it repeated on Fox News because I have heard it there myself (I watch Fox, CNN, and MSNBC to get an equal viewpoint) The truth is that the group that put this information out there is a right wing advocacy group that is trying to smear him. Besides.. Define “Liberal”.. The man pushed for ethics reform in one of the most Orwellian and Draconian times in US history..
“He stands up and promises the sun.”
Come on? The sun? The guy is obviously passionate about delivering for the American people. He MAY not be able to get it ALL done in the first term but he’ll get more done than McCain.. And I thought you said you didn’t know what he was promising?
“Presidential candidates find out what the people and their lobbyists want to hear, and then they speak out in support of their ideas.”
This may be true with some politicians but if you have any understanding of who this guy really is, or who he wants to be you’d understand that he wants what is best for American people. I guess you’d have to be paying attention enough to know what he stands for first though!
I could go on but I’ll leave on this note..
“And, he’ll be raising taxes of the everyday citizens.”
Blatantly inaccurate unless by “everyday citizens” you mean millionaires.. Obama plans to save money by taxing the rich and giving it to the poor in ways that will IMPROVE the quality of life.. Not just welfare.. I mean creating jobs, including “green jobs” in the solar, wind, and geothermal energy sectors.. which has the synergistic benefits of decreasing carbon emissions and leading to less dependence on foreign oil..
I hope that helps clear some things up..
Vote Obama !!
I’m with One ID on this one. The guy gives a great speech and tells people what they wanna hear…that’s about it. People can rip on McCain’s VP selection of Palin for being inexperienced, but she’s in the #2 spot…Obama’s in the #1. It’s almost like it is a given that John McCain will die within 4 years the way people are talking on the news today. Ridiculous.
Obama is “promising the sun” because many voters are uninformed and take such statements at face value. How is he going to pay for all these promises? Taxing the rich even more than they already are? People don’t realize that the top 25% of income earners in this country pay over 85% of all income taxes. Pushing them to 100% is not gonna fly.
Give everyone “the same healthcare that members of Congress get.” Sounds great. Too bad a universal healthcare system would be a disaster in this country. Why do you think Canadians come to the U.S. for health issues? “Man, the bone sticking out of your leg looks pretty bad, here’s a bag of ice…you’ll have to wait in line until it’s your turn.” “Cancer…that’s tough, too bad we can’t get you in for chemo treatments for another 3 months, you’ll have to wait in line.”
He says that in 10 years that he will end our dependence on oil…how? Inflating tires? Throwing out these “change” proposals are great, but he’s not specific on anything. Recycling typical democratic ideals in a speech, throwing “hope” and “change” in there a bunch of times, and comparing McCain to Bush is enough to convince the people of America that he is suitable for President. I don’t buy any of it.
On another note. People love to rip Fox News, but MSNBC is a complete disaster and everything that is wrong with journalism. Putting up a breaking news line today during the announcement of Sarah Palin that stated “how many houses will this add to the McCain ticket?” is sickening. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews regularly admit on the air that they are in the tank for Obama. Bill O’Reilly doesn’t even do stupid shit like that. MSNBC has become the Obama channel and people are afraid to admit it because it makes them look stupid for bashing Fox.
I’m sure this will probably stir up a shit storm but it’s just my two cents.

Enlight, I appreciate your response and viewpoint. Yes, I watched Obama’s speech. (For the record I don’t watch Fox, CNN, or MSNBC. I consider the source of the information I gather. Sure, there are smears and agendas applied to what is broadcast, but facts are facts. You don’t really believe those sources gives you an equal viewpoint, do you??) I listened to what Obama said. I also thought about what he didn’t say. I know what Obama says he stands for. He has no track record or means to accomplish what he proposes unless he raises taxes. These tax increases will apply to more than the millionaires.
Some of the proposed tax changes after 2008 General election:
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN 15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6% How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that ‘Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.’
INCOME TAX
MCCAIN (no changes)
Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 125K – tax $31,250
OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA
New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.
New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already)
New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)
New taxes on retirement accounts
New taxes to pay for socialized medicine
