i think “touch and go” maybe sort of serves the purpose that the last few tracks on american gangster did. If you noticed, those all had the feel of singles and didn’t really fit the “rise and decline of a hustler” theme that jayz had throughout the album. Tracks like “success”, “blue magic”, and the title track didn’t really feel like they belonged on the album. it seemed like he put them on there simply to sell the album and to give himself options for what the lead single would be. possibly its the same with “touch and go”, a little club track to throw out there and generate somewhat more “mainstream” interest in the project. based on what joe said about how the album wasn’t for the casual listener and how touch and go is a conventional club joint with a conventional club beat, i’m thinking this might be the case.

touch & go has a mainstream feel to it, more appealing to people in clubs so when they heard they’ll be like “oh let me check out joe budden”, but thats not really him, touch & go can stay or go doesn’t make a difference, its gonna be dope
