Ever since I got ahold of the J Dilla Chapter that DJ Parler put together I’ve been hooked. Trading a few emails I’ve had the priviledge to get each new chapter a little early so I could enjoy by my elitest self. Check his K West Chapter, American Gangster Chapter and so forth. With the passing of Isaac Hayes, DJ Parler felt it necessary to put together a SAMPLOLOGY in honor of the fallen legend.
Very unfortunate to have lost two great ones this past weekend…R.I.P. to Bernie Mac & Isaac Hayes…though this is an impromptu chapter for the SAMPLOLOGY Series, if there’s anyone that deserves to have one created it would be Mr. Isaac Hayes…his countless contributions to music & film helped lay the groundwork for Hip Hop, R&B, Disco, Funk & more… – DJ Parler

Definitely sad to hear Isaac Hayes go. Dude was instrumental to Hip Hop, literally.

I’m definitely gonna enjoy this, the other Parlar mixes are dope. And putting it together so soon? Very cool. There is one track that seems to be missing from this mix though, and I want to point it out not to complain (because it’s not possible to put every track of Isaac Hayes that hip hop sampled on here), but just to tell some people to check it out: on Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes, you will find a song sampled by DJ Quik for “Born and Raised in Compton”. It’s one of my favorite Hayes tracks and Quik made his version one of my favorite hip hop tracks ever. Check it out.
