Producers are starting to gripe about these mixes, but only for self-motivated reasons. Truth be told, I feel these compilations. It’s a great link to the past. The Hip-Hop Is Read blog discussed it recently.

these comps teach people who otherwise wouldn’t know any better. some of us will discover the original tracks/artists by ourselves. But these are a superb way of nudging people in the right direction. Some of us will actually go out & spend money on these artists stuff, noth the original & the track/album that used the samples.
